If you’re like most girly girls, you know we all love luxury handbags, but not everyone can afford a brand new one hot off the shelf of a Chanel store or a Louis Vuitton store. Personally for me, I opened a separate bank account just for my guilty pleasure which is Chanel bags. So anytime I have enough money for a bag, I would take money out of that account to buy. This way I am not using money I don’t have. But one day I realized that I am taking so much longer to save the money to buy from a boutique, so I started searching for better ways of owning a luxury handbag. I’ve found online stores like Tradesy.com, therealreal.com, fashionphile.com and many other sites and they are great but when I started digging deeper I found these groups on Facebook who are Chanel fanatics or LV fanatics. I thought, why not join these groups and see. Upon joining, immediately, I see conversations about how to spotting fakes. I love that, because personally, if the bag isn’t obviously fake, I won’t be able to spot it. So I love how all these women come together to help each other. Then looking deeper into the group, I see that women are also selling their pre-loved luxury handbags! So first thing that comes to mind is, gotta be careful for the fakes! But I still stuck around to check out the bags. Most of them to me seemed real bags, so, I thought ok, not bad, maybe I’ll start chatting with people and see what’s up. After chatting with some women that I see who are frequent sellers in the group page, I realized that this group is a trusted seller group. You can ask anyone and they will be able to tell you if this person is trustworthy or not. And if they don’t know the person you are trying to buy from, they will help you find other ways of doing business so both parties are ok. I really like that idea. I haven’t bought anything from these groups yet because I haven’t found anything I really want. But I wouldn’t hesitate as soon as i find something good. Of course always do your best to protect yourself such as using PayPal invoice instead of PayPal friends and family. Also, have a few women authenticate the bag, if that doesn’t work go to someone who authenticates professionally. I’ve actually asked enough questions in the group to know that these women know what they are talking about and will give you guidance if you asked for it. Here are the groups:

I’m telling you, this is the next best thing. You will always find something you like in those facebook groups and you can negotiate. Some even are willing to do a payment plan. I am currently not looking for anything specific or vintage so I haven’t bought anything yet, but I am looking forward to buying something from one of those ladies!
Also, I am only talking about 2 groups here but I am certain there are many more of these types of groups on facebook, do check them out too!!
UPDATED EXPERIENCE: So I had an awful experience with the Chanel Addicts group on facebook. I went to Barcelona and bought some extra retin A cream. When I came back, I realized I bought too many and my friends already had some, so I couldn’t give them to my friends. So I decided the best place might be the Chanel Addicts page on Facebook because well if you love Chanel, there is a chance you may want to keep your face wrinkle free as well. Lo and behold, a few hours after posting it on the page, I got kicked out of Chanel Addicts and blocked. No warning, nothing. I thought that was a bit aggressive. They could have nicely told me to remove the page. Not a big deal, and would have quickly removed it, but instead just kick me out of the group and block me. It was a bit snooty on their part and well, I no longer recommend going to Chanel Addicts on facebook to shop for Chanels. They are rude and impersonal. I prefer places like therealreal.com or fashionphile.com , at least they have great customer service and are not snooty.
