So I finally went to a Medieval Times dinner with show in December 2015. I had a lot of fun and as expected, there are a lot of kids there. The show was OK. The reason I say it was OK was because the actors’ stunts were just too obvious. When you get hit by a lance, you are supposed to fall off the horse immediately, but there, they wait a few seconds until they get to the end then JUMP off the horse. I guess it is a safety issue, so it is more important then making it look real. The stadium is divided into 6 groups by the 6 knights’ colors. For example, mine was red and yellow color so my knight’s color was red and yellow. And each knight is responsible to excite their section and help us have fun (more reviews to come below). So here are what I analyze the event by:
Ambiance: great audience (us), OK actors because only some show real enthusiasm and some just seem to be there because it’s their job. But I loved my neighbors and everyone cheering.
Act: the act was fine. It can’t get any more real then what they did due to safety issues, so I understand.
Food/Drinks: surprisingly their rotisserie chicken was soooo good… I have a picture of half eaten chicken that I will show and hopefully you can see how moist the meat was. It was nice and juicy. They served half a chicken and I ate all of it… Yikes! You get free soda and coffee, however, if you want alcohol, you will have to order from the waitress and pay separately.
Service: my waitress was awesome. She was a skinny girl but super strong. They had to lift a whole section’s worth of heavy metal plate and mugs (to be more like the Medieval Times as they use metal plates/mugs). So please if your waitress was great, please give her a good tip, lifting those heavy duty stuff wasn’t easy!
After party: after the show ends, you can go out to the bar area to hang out, drink and shop. I didn’t stay to drink but I did browse their shops. Very cool indeed! I am obsessed with Zelda and they had link’s shield and sword. I was very tempted to buy, but where would I put it? At least for future references, I know I can buy Link’s shield and sword there. =0)
Conclusion: this is definitely a fun event to go to. If you are a medieval history fan like I am, then this is a must do. I am going to London in March 2016 and will be going to their version of Medieval show/dinner which is called Medieval Banquet. I am excited to test it out and report back especially since Medieval history is English history!!
