So going to Iceland, I knew it was best to always order seafood. Why? Because who would be best to cook seafood then a country surrounded by the water? Matwerk isn’t a seafood restaurant per se. But their seafood dish is to die for.
This place is located at the end of the strip where they have all the restaurant and stores. So they are in a perfect location. Their food is to die for. As soon as you walk in, the waiter will tell you, the dishes are small so it is a good idea to order 2. At first I thought they were just scheming, but then I saw other people’s dishes coming up and they are pretty small. Besides what the heck, I would like to taste a few different seafood dish. So I had their Cod dish and their Arctic Char. They were both deliciously prepared. The Arctic Char came with different textures and flavors. So in each bite, it is a nice surprise. The Cod was nice and tender, like it melts in your mouth! Check out their website and menu by clicking here.
I didn’t get a chance to try more of their dishes. It was my last night in Reykjavik and I was exhausted. I actually just stumbled upon this place because it was close to my hotel. Their dishes are pretty pricey but it is worth the price. The chef is innovative and makes the most amazing dishes. This is a must visit place and I look forward to going back there next time I am in Reykjavik.
* I am sorry i didn’t take more pictures. This wasn’t a work trip but a trip for me. =) But this restaurant is well worth a writing!
